Gun Violence Prevention

There’s more that we can do to ensure that our students and communities are safe from gun violence. I’ve worked with students in our local schools and I’ve worked in sexual violence prevention. I know that in order to prevent any type of violence we must take a holistic approach to solving the problem.

I agree with 90% of Minnesotans who believe that we should require background checks on ALL gun purchases. I also support gun violence prevention orders, which enable family members or law enforcement to petition a state court to keep guns out of the hands of people who may harm themselves or others.

We also need to ensure that we have adequate mental health services available in our schools and that we’re doing everything that we can to eradicate bullying in our schools and larger communities.
