Healthcare
Ami has talked with veterans, seniors, and working families in our community and one of their biggest concerns is healthcare costs. She believes that ALL Minnesotans should have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.
Ami supports a MinnesotaCare buy-in option so that everyone can access affordable care. She believes that women should have the right to make their own healthcare decisions. Ami supports efforts to increase price transparency and wants to see more investments in our mental healthcare system, which is difficult and often expensive to access, and inadequate to meet the needs of our communities.
During her first term as a legislator, Ami co-authored healthcare-related legislation, including bills that would:
- Provide greater price transparency for prescription drugs*
- Require health plans to include coverage for contraceptive methods and services with no-cost sharing requirements
- Remove the pharmacist “gag” rule
Ami also supported the Alec Smith Insulin Affordability Act*, licensure of assisted living facilities*, and opioid response and manufacturer accountability legislation*.
*These bills were passed and signed into law.
